Construction is flourishing in the City of Leeds

The West Yorkshire City of Leeds is home to some of the country’s finest restaurants, shops, nightlife, culture and renowned attractions such as the new Victoria Quarter, the beautiful Grade I listed Corn Exchange, the West Yorkshire Playhouse which is part-home to the famous Northern Ballet School and the Royal Armouries Museum which holds an impressive 8,500 collection of historical objects.

Alongside these offerings, the further development of Leeds is still hot on the agenda. In a recent Crane Survey publication by Deloitte Real Estate covering periods January—December 2017, it was reported that 1,586 units were in construction throughout the centre. The survey included residential, office, education, student accommodation, retail and leisure sectors and clearly demonstrates the volume of projects happening in the City.

As a proud Yorkshire company established in Barnsley, it’s reassuring to know that our services are being utilised in the region.

Currently we are providing Clerks of Works services on Wellington Place which sits in the heart of Leeds and will be home to the new Government Hub accommodating HMRC and NHS Digital. This development will be the largest ever commercial property letting in Leeds and sits within a mixed used masterplan of offices, retail, residential, hotel and leisure.

These developing projects are great news for the City which already enjoys a healthy economy and will further boost job opportunities.

Some of our other projects underway are St Alban’s Vita Student accommodation which is an 18 storey high development and will comprise of 376 student apartments and will include various social spaces, and Leeds College Campus Phase 2 located in Hunslet. We are also working on the £75M Creative Arts Building for Leeds Beckett University – a 14,500 sq metre facility which will contain a theatre and a black box studio, and will bring together the faculties of performing arts, film, fashion and music. Our appointment for this project is with Downing.

Other Leeds based projects successfully completed include several direct projects for Leeds Beckett University, the Ruth Gorse Academy and the Cloth Hall Court conference centre.
