This £90m redevelopment of West Cumberland Hospital saw the biggest single investment into healthcare for West Cumbria in over half a century. The proposals involve a mixture of new build and refurbishment.

The new buildings are three storeys in height with some rooftop plant
areas. The new build accommodation comprises an urgent care centre,
radiology department, minor ops facilities, endoscopy department,

medical investigations unit, outpatient facilities, acute assessment

centre, coronary care unit, intensive care unit, 6 theatre operating suite,

neo natal, paediatric out-patient and in-patient facility, special care

bay unit, delivery suite, wards, canteen, café and main entrance area.
