Grahams Sports Centre & Boathouse

£4.5m addition to the University campus. The centre incorporates an
indoor powered rowing tank, fencing stiles, ergo area, offices and dance
studios. A new boat house and a boat launch deck to the River Wear was also constructed as part of the development scheme. The site was prone to flooding so the boat house design incorporated flood resilient measures. Other facilities included three dedicated physiotherapy treatment rooms, a multi-purpose dance studio and x-bike training room, a rowing ergo gallery housing 28 stations, each used to simulate the action of water-craft rowing.
