A Tribute to our Building Clerk of Works, Ray Darby

It is with great sadness that we have received news that one of our long-standing and much respected Building Clerk of Works, Ray Darby, sadly passed away on Friday, 6th November 2020.

Ray was employed by Hickton Quality Control for over sixteen years and provided exceptional technical expertise on diverse projects throughout this time.  He was such an asset to the company and an amazing gentleman. With his excellent reporting and communication skills, he worked on many education, residential, leisure and commercial projects.  He was an experienced construction practitioner, who had the natural ability to work well with all members of site staff – he will be truly missed by us all.

Along with his love of working in the construction industry, Ray was also a Councillor for Stapleford South West and a member of the Labour Party.  Ray was elected to the position of Town Mayor of Stapleford three times, finishing his last term in July this year.

“On behalf of everyone at Hickton Group, we are deeply upset by this tragic news. Ray was a close friend of myself, staff members and clients. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”

Chairman, Tony Mobbs

Ray’s family have confirmed that any contributions and donations would be gratefully received to a charity which Ray himself supported. To make any donations, please feel free to do so at: https://www.parkinsons.org.uk/donate
