Appointed in 2018 by our existing client of over 10 years, Turner & Townsend, we have provided Building and M&E Clerk of Works services to Barnsley College’s Old Mill Lane site as they transform their main entrance for students with a brand new re-designed entrance to the lobby area via the Urban Park.
The new entrance will serve as the main entrance for its students while the existing entrance to the front of the building will now be allocated to visitors to improve the flow of foot traffic. The Old Mill Lane campus serves as the main college building and opened its doors in 2011 and is home to fantastic facilities for students including Art and Design Studios, Industry standard catering kitchens and professional standard music recording studios. In addition to the demolition and redesign of the student entrance and lobby we were also involved in the quality inspections of the M&E remedial works to the already existing buildings cooler system as well as the installation of solar reflective blinds within nominated rooms.
Standing proud on Church Street just outside the centre of Barnsley’s busy town centre, the college’s Old Mill Lane campus towers with its modern design, striking red cladding and stone pillars which compliment the modern floor to ceiling glass windows around the building.
