Delivering Quality Science Projects – British Science Week 2020

British Science week, which is run by the British Science Association, celebrates science, technology, engineering and maths featuring entertaining and engaging events and activities across the UK.

British Science Week provides a platform to stimulate and support teachers, STEM professionals, science communicators and the general public to produce and participate in STEM events and activities, so to show our support we acknowledge several of our science related projects that our Clerks of Works have successfully provided Quality Site Inspections for over the last two decades….

In 2017 we provided building, mechanical and electrical quality inspection services at the Isaac Newton building, a £17m project at Lincoln University which involved the construction of the building together with the remaining internal modifications to the existing Hub building and the associated external works.

The following year, we delivered Building and M&E Clerks of Works services, at one of the key economic sites in the country, Malvern Hills Science Park in Worcestershire. Works included the inspection of a new two storey build for office accommodation, plus onsite parking, external works and drainage.

2018 also saw us being involved in the magnificent transformation of Boland House on the Guy’s campus of King’s College London, at the foot of The Shard, into Science Gallery London. This new space where science and art opened in 2018 was recognised by Architects’ Journal and named best refurb project in November 2019. Housing a total 500m² of exhibition space across two floors, a 150-seat theatre with a reception room and retracting seats, meeting spaces, a café overlooking a public Georgian Courtyard and a shop.

Other science and engineering projects have included the Science Lecture Theatre and Engineering & Computing Theatre for our long-standing client Durham University, in addition to construction projects at Heathcote School & Science College, Thames Valley Science Park and The Cedars Academy, Leicester.

“We are thrilled to have added to the World of Science by providing our Building and M&E Clerk of Works services across several sites across the UK. The quality construction of these sites, I’m sure, will have significantly contributed to the science industry by providing the next generation of scientists, new innovations and showcasing our knowledge.”

Group Managing Director, Tony Mobbs
