Expanding UK student accommodation portfolio

They say ‘variety’ is the spice of life and we like to think that this is exactly what our Site Inspectors experience working for us. Opportunities to inspect work on a diverse range of projects across multiple sectors including hotel chains, local authority work, high-profile projects, historical renovations, housing and student accommodation projects to name (but) a few.

One of our rapidly expanding portfolios—student accommodation, includes prominent projects such as the Central Village, University of Leeds, one which involved the re-development of 981 high-quality student bedrooms across two Phases with additional retail facilities. The Lyra in North Acton which involved the successful delivery of a 209-bed project and one which also included additional retail facilities. St Marks Flats, Leeds University a new-build which was a 520-bed student accommodation block and Downing Plaza an extensive North-East project established over four Phases of development.

Some of the UK’s biggest student accommodation providers, Select Property Group and Fusion Students have employed us to undertake Quality Site Inspections on their projects including Vita Student in Newcastle, Glasgow, York, Birmingham and Southampton for Select Property Group, and Froomsgate House Bristol, Eclipse in Cardiff and Nova in Nottingham for Fusion Students.

Last and by no-means least we are providing Clerk of Works services on Godiva Place for Coventry University which is a purpose-built student accommodation project comprising of five finger-style blocks ranging from 4 to 9 stories. Each accommodation block is being constructed to maximise light and has acoustic screening built-in to protect students sleep.

‘Our Clerks of Works and NEC Supervisors are working on vast amounts of student accommodation projects spanning the whole of the UK. They are checking all of the critical stages of the projects to ensure that the quality meets with statutory regulations and specifications, in addition to quality workmanship, identifying defects and checking that the materials on site are to the correct specification and quality.’

—Resource Manager Jonathan King
