Grade II Listed Science Gallery, London

Located at London’s iconic London Bridge opposite the stunning 95-storey skyscraper, The Shard, is the newly transformed Science Gallery. Appointed by our long-standing client of over 5 years – Lendlease, we have successfully delivered this innovative gallery providing Building Clerks of Works services and handed over to the end client – King’s College London.

Packed with history, this 18th century building was originally part of Guy’s Hospital Gallery, now a part of King’s College London. With building work having commenced in Spring 2016, the former Boland House is now a spectacular site, complimented by the restored public Georgian Courtyard at its doorstep to welcome visitors and to allow the public to bask in the city’s buzzing street sights enjoying a hot drink at the ground floor café as well as a shop space.

In addition to the ground floor amenities, the gallery also consists of a new exhibition space on the first floor with circa 500m2 for the seasonal exhibits which are housed in the gallery. The work also consists of a theatre in the basement with 150 seats to accommodate meeting space and events for private hire.

“This was a fantastic project to be involved with. Our Clerks of Works who worked on site at the Gallery is a member of the Institute of Clerk of Works and Construction Inspectorate with over 27 years’ experience, and his expertise and pragmatic approach ensured that the project was successfully inspected and delivered.”

Operations Manager, Jonathan King

With an aim of attracting over 300,000 visitors a year, this fantastic new space will connect art, science and health in one place in the heart of London bringing together academics, scientific researchers, health care providers, students, local communities and artists.

With exceptional experience in both commercial buildings and historical restoration projects, our Quality Site Inspection expertise is being utilised to ensure that the project was delivered to the highest quality of standards.

The Quality Site Inspector role can take various forms to suit clients’ needs which can be found in the services section on our website www.hickton.co.uk.
