We choose to get involved with sponsorship campaigns that mean something to us, which is why we have recently sponsored the cost of the local rugby kit for Tim Mobbs, an avid rugby player, this summer.
Tim Mobbs, who is featured wearing his new kit, plays for ‘Cleckheaton Rugby Club’, an English rugby union team based in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire. The club, which is run by Chairman Neil Gillian, runs five senior sides and twelve junior teams and their dedicated coaches and trainers are all giving back to their community.
Tim is a Participant Development Lead at Teach First – a charity working for equality of education in England and Wales. He has played rugby since the age of six and we decided to get involved not only to support Tim but also to assist the club at a difficult period. A fellow team player unfortunately passed away this summer whilst playing rugby league due to an undiagnosed heart defect. This tragic loss has sparked Cleckheaton coach Thiu Barnard to promote a national campaign to offer all UK players a life-saving heart screening test in conjunction with the Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund.
Tim said, “I can’t thank Hickton enough for their support. For funding my playing kit but more importantly my heart screening. I can now play without worrying something may be underlying and undetected. My family and I are incredibly grateful.”
