Major development projects with the University of Lincoln

World-class teaching and research University the University of Lincoln is undertaking two major campus developments – The Sarah Swift Building and the Isaac Newton Building.

The University, rated in the UK’s top ten for student satisfaction by undergraduate, postgraduate and international students (Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017; Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2017) employed our services on these two capital projects to provide four highly-experienced Clerks of Works.

The Sarah Swift Building – named after Dame Sarah Swift GBE RRC, a nurse and founder of the Royal College of Nursing, is a £19m investment and will house specialist teaching and research spaces as well as general teaching and learning facilities, and will be the new home for the University’s Schools of Health & Social Care, and Psychology. We are providing both Building and M&E Clerks of Works services to oversee the construction work which began on site late last year and which is scheduled to be complete this summer.

The Isaac Newton Building a £28m investment– named after one of Lincolnshire’s greatest sons Sir Isaac Newton PRS MP, has been built on the grounds of the previously used staff and visitor’s car park and will be the new home for the Schools of Computer Science, Engineering and Mathematics & Physics, and the growing strategic partnership with Siemens. The University’s students have created a giant piece of artwork which will be displayed as part of the finishing touches to this building which will be phased over two stages of development.

Phase one of the development saw us providing site inspection services to oversee construction of the new extension to the east-end of the existing Engineering Hub, and Phase two included inspection of a new building to the south-side of the Engineering Hub which includes a 500-seat lecture theatre.

‘We have extensive experience working with leading universities and are delighted to add both projects for the University of Lincoln to our portfolio. We hope to work on many of their future projects moving forward.’ – Resource Manager Jon King
