We are pleased to have been appointed by The City of Edinburgh Council to provide Clerk of Works services on all 3 phases of the £42m Pennywell development. The works commenced in June 2014, making it one of, if not our longest running project to date.
We are the sole Clerk of Works provider on this project, which will see more than 700 new homes built over a time span of 9 years. The development is part of the City of Edinburgh Council’s new build programme, one of Scotland’s largest housing-led regeneration programmes.
Following the success of the first two phases, phase three of the development will deliver a further 134 new flats and homes, landscaping, associated drainage and infrastructure by 2023. The homes will be a mix of one-to-four bedroom flats and houses for social rent, mid-market and homes for first time buyers; and include mechanical ventilation and heat recovery, efficient energy provision and enhanced building fabric to aid resident comfort and energy consumption.
“Independent inspections are currently taking place on the phase three development and given recent adverse weather conditions, the monitoring progress by our on-site Clerk of Works is equally important. This enables us to make our client aware of potential delays against planned programme dates, where it is not advised to undertake certain works in sub-zero temperatures.”

The Pennywell development is the result of an investment of £42 million by the City of Edinburgh Council and includes £7.9m grant funding from the Scottish Government.
