Project Description:

The new £6.8m Energy Coast UTC was developed on a green field site in West Cumbria. The College was keen to have a solution that provided a building with low running costs but did not want to follow the BREEAM process. Our Building Clerk of Works was able to use his construction knowledge to advise on the correct materials and inspect special innovations to help the UTC achieve the low energy status required. Due to the marine environment, all materials used for the envelope were non-ferrous.
