Providing Quality Inspections on Phase 1 of Sheffield Retail Quarter

Over the years, Sheffield has undergone several transformations and its next phase is well underway. Sheffield Retail Quarter Phase 1 is currently under construction and will include over 160,000 sq. ft. of office space. This landmark building will have a rooftop terrace and will be occupied by HSBC, who have taken out a 15-year lease on the building. There will also be an array of new food and drink providers within the scheme.

Sheffield already boasts world-class public spaces such as the Peace Gardens, Barkers Pool and Tudor Square. Sheffield City Council’s intention to expand on this reputation is visible as they are creating a series of new high quality public spaces around the new office building, offering Sheffield residents the chance to experience a new and more pedestrian-friendly area of the city centre.

This development will play an important role in creating a more vibrant city centre, providing job opportunities for local people and attracting more visitors to it.

Our involvement with this development began in June this year after being employed by Turner & Townsend to provide Building and M&E Clerks of Works services. We will be working on the new HSBC office until the end of 2018.

‘Sheffield Retail Quarter Phase 1 is close to our hearts as it is being delivered by our valued clients Turner & Townsend and Sheffield City Council. The Clerk of Works working on the project is a Sheffield resident who will see and feel the benefit of this transformation. We will continue to monitor the quality of this project at regular intervals to ensure that any problems and defective work are kept to a minimum. This will make sure that the construction works remain on track.’

We work with Turner & Townsend on an array of projects to provide quality site inspection. Our Clerks of Works and NEC Supervisors inspect and report on all areas of construction to help maintain quality standards, identify costly defects, delays and reduce risk. They provide valuable guidance to assist with getting the job done ‘right first time’ which helps save our clients time and money.
