The project was formerly known as the Custody Estates Programme. The Custody Estates project manger, Paula Ibberson, described the programme as the largest scale capital investment ever commissioned by SYP and that the buildings are flagships of their type for quality and value.
Paula said of Hickton: ‘You integrated well from the outset with the client and contractor teams. Your attention to detail and passion for seeing a quality outcome was obvious from our first meeting and working with you both has been an absolute pleasure.’

We were appointed by Mascot Management, initially to provide quality inspections for the installation of a unique green curved roof on a kempar water proofing system, however this soon developed to us providing Clerk of Works services across all aspects of the project.
The service station provides all the essential needs for a rest stop, including restroom and shower areas, moderate parking, a modular hotel, retail outlets, restaurants and cafés, along with on-the-go food and drink.

Project Description:
We have completed NEC Supervisory services for the £1.5m new-build modern Community Hub which is being constructed following the demolition of the historic and much-loved Tower Gardens Pavilion, built in 1879, in the popular seaside town Skegness, Lincolnshire.
Appointed by our client, global property and construction consultants, Gleeds, via the Perfect Circle framework, our role was to provide independent Quality Inspections to oversee the quality aspects during the phases of construction work.
In addition to providing NEC Supervisor services for Sheffield Custody Suites, we also provided inspection services for South Yorkshire Police for the Barnsley Custody Suite. The works involved the modernisation and replacement of the existing Custody Suites.
Cleveland Police sought a new multi-million, contemporary headquarters building to replace their existing inefficient and costly accommodation. The building includes a café and community facilities located in and around the main entrance. The 3600 sq/m Community Safety Hub was a flagship building hosts Cleveland Police’s 24/7 control room, together with a number of support functions both operational and business. Around 240 tonnes of British steel was used in the construction, with approximately 100 tonnes coming from Teesside based British Steel’s Lackenby Beam Mill.
The first phase of the development saw the historic Barnsley Markets move to a contemporary new home in 2018, followed by the new state-of-the-art Library @ the Lightbox and independent food court Market Kitchen, which opened their doors to the public in 2019.
We are delighted to have progressed to providing Clerk of Works services for the second phase of the development, which will see the completion of 25 shops, a 13-screen Cineworld with 4DX technology, Superbowl UK with bowling alley, laser quest and soft play, 7 family-friendly restaurants, public square, multi-storey car park and Market Gate Bridge.
