Creating the next generation of office space in Leeds

Situated in the north of the UK with a diverse population of 781,700, and at the centre of a £69.6bn economy, Leeds is the third largest City in the UK. With its strong roots in the financial and professional services, Leeds is evolving its role as a significant player in the burgeoning tech and digital sectors as well as boasting some of the finest restaurants, shops, culture and nightlife.

Acting as a catalyst for this success is the ever-increasing investment being made in real estate within the City, including the transformation of the iconic Majestic building. Starting life as a super-cinema in the 1920s, this much-loved historic building is being re-purposed to offer the work spaces of the future, with a design which pays homage to its past.

The Majestic building originally opened its doors in 1922 as a cinema and ballroom. The new design will reference and re-interpret the original cinema screen within the 3-storey atrium which will create a grand, inspiring entrance for visitors and occupiers, together with the re-introduction of the historic Palm Court lightwell to the rear of the building, with the original façade forming the ‘wrapper’ to Grade A floorspace providing a unique working environment – in a location right opposite the City’s railway station.

‘As a much-loved landmark and historic asset in Leeds, we’re delighted to be able to contribute in the transformation of the Majestic, showing how diverse and exciting the City is to newcomers. Our Quality Site Inspectors are working hard to help achieve the standards the City demands of this unique and exciting project.’
