Huddersfield University’s State-of-the-art Barbara Hepworth Building

Having been delighted to be involved throughout the construction of the University of Huddersfield’s Barbara Hepworth Building (named after the famous Yorkshire-born sculptor), we provided both Building and M&E Clerk of Works services, the project has now successfully completed and has been handed over to the client.

Appointed by our existing client, Morgan Sindall Construction, this brand new £30m building reflects all that is current, contemporary and creative in its stunning design, appropriately hosting Art, Design and Architecture students within its walls, situated on the already existing Huddersfield University’s campus alongside the canal which runs through the heart of the campus.

Following the successful completion of the Barbara Hepworth Building at Huddersfield University, it was celebrated by a royal visit by HRH The Duke of York, Prince Andrew, who had a first-hand glimpse of the technology and state-of-the-art equipment this innovative building now houses for its 2,000 students due in the next academic term.

“This was a fantastic project for us to be involved in with Huddersfield University and the new facilities will benefit students for many generations to come.”

Bid Manager, Cally Graseley

Already thrilled to have been a part of the construction and delivery of this amazing project we are also proud to have been involved on the Joseph Priestley Building working with the University of Huddersfield which has recently been shortlisted for the Refit and Refurbishment Project of the Year Award at the 2019 Insider Media Yorkshire Property Industry Awards and wish them the best of luck in the coming months.

If you have a University, College or School project that requires dedicated Clerks of Works services to oversee the Building and M&E aspects throughout the entire project or during the snagging stages, please contact the team on 01226 743959 who can discuss visitation levels with you or visit our website www.hickton.co.uk.
