Student accommodation in Selly Oak, Birmingham successfully completed

We are pleased to have provided Building Clerks of Works for the completed student accommodation at Selly Oak, on behalf of our client Landsec.

Construction work began in July 2018, taking ten months to complete the 17-floor building, sited on the grounds of former metal factories known as the ‘Birmingham Battery Company’, which has been vacant since 1980.

The accommodation is part of a scheme to re-develop 30-acres of the Battery Park site, ideally located at the heart of the student area and within walking distance of the University of Birmingham.

Occupancy became available in September 2019 for the studio bedrooms, each containing private bathrooms and kitchens. Building facilities also include a reception, student common area, laundry room, cluster living areas, cycle storage and a post room.

‘We were very happy with the service provided, in particular by that of the Quality Site Inspectors on-site who were knowledgeable and fulfilled our aspirations of working with a contractor to achieve the required end result.’

Project Manager, Julian Mabbitt of Landsec

The site is alongside the Dudley Canal Route, originally opened in 1779 and close to the 190,000 sq ft Selly Oak Shopping Park, home to 11 retailers and 5 dining facilities, which opened its doors in September 2018.

This project compliments our flourishing student accommodation inspection portfolio, which we are pleased to be expanding throughout the UK.
